About this workshop
This is a kids' workshop where you will learn how to roll out, stamp, engrave into the silver clay. Then hair dry and torch fire the clay and watch it transform into a solid silver piece of metal. You will then sand, file, and blacken (antique) the silver. The final technique is to polish the surface and attach any findings ready to wear your hand made Jewellery piece. You will receive a piece of plasticine to practice and test out your shapes and stamping and then a piece of silver clay from which you will create a silver pendant or pair of earrings. Workshops are held in my home studio in Tarrawanna. The address will be sent to you via email once you make your booking. Water and a small treat are included. Cost is $90 AUD per person with silver clay. This is the cost for a 1 day workshop. This cost includes an information pack, the silver clay and the use of my tools and equipment. If students are wanting to purchase a silver chain, there will be an additional cost for the silver chain. The student must be at least 10 years old and able to handle some specialised jewellery hand tools. Each workshop class has no more than 4 students, ensuring the teaching time is very much one on one. There is a minimum requirement of 3 students before a workshop will proceed. On the day of the workshop, you will be required to bring your completed Media Consent Form in relation to the use of any photographs / video taken during the workshop. You are under no obligation to consent and can choose 'I do not consent', if you wish. The consent form can be downloaded and printed from the kids' workshop page on the website. If you have not done this prior to the workshop you will be asked to complete it before the workshop commences on the day; which may lead to later start times and hold up the progress for other students. To secure your place in the workshop full payment is required upon booking. The remaining payments for any extra materials can be paid on, or before the day of the workshop. If you would prefer to pay additional material costs by bank deposit you may do so: Acc Name: Yvette de Mestre Jewellery Designs.
